US Marshal Badge story inside the box:There was no uniform badge in the U.S. Marshal service until 1941, when the "Eagle Top" variety was introduced nationwide. Prior to this, each district made its own identifying badge. This type of badge was worn by the infamous Earp brothers, Wyatt and Virgil. This is also the type of badge worn by James Arness as Matt Dillon in the television series Gunsmoke.

We manufacture our Old West replica badges out of brass and steel. They are double-stamped then silver plated. Next, each badge is individually hand finished for a unique antique look.

Marshal Matt Dillon Gunsmoke

Dodge City, Kansas once had a reputation

for being the most wicked town in the Wild

West. This lawless, gunslinging town was

the setting for the long running radio and

TV series Gunsmoke. Gunsmoke was one

of the earliest ++--¬-++-¦--+-ªadult westerns,++--¬-++-¦--++ª centering

around the exploits of Marshal Matt Dillon

as he dealt with the problems associated

with frontier life. The TV show made use

of this historic US Marshal shield once

worn by the Earp brothers, Wyatt and

Virgil; also known for their time in the

infamous Dodge City.
