His film career began in 1937 with Love is in the Air and lasted until 1964 with The Killers. In 1953 he starred in Law and Order as Deputy U.S. Marshal Frame Johnson, who cleaned up the town of Tombstone, Arizona. He then moved on to settle in the town of Cottonwood, Arizona. After a great sacrifice, Johnson brings law and order to Cottonwood.
